I write in-depth features on outdoor adventures, culture, travel and natural history loaded with well-researched context and sometimes first person experience. I cover topics I know well. Topics where my experience as a passionate naturalist, expedition guide, history-buff and traveller are useful. I have a deep interest, alright, slight obsession, with polar exploration, Canadian history and the Arctic. I love research and take a deep dive into the topics that I cover. 

I expand on topics; provide context. I let a story breathe. 

Stories need characters, arcs, emotion and cold, hard, undisputed facts. I provide the thoughts and opinions of experts, and occasionally my own. I search for the nuances that make a story unique, angles that can only be found through exploring a topic thoroughly and getting to know the characters whose perspectives are invaluable to a narrative.

I include voices that are seldom heard, but provide critical context and understanding of a topic. 

The stories I share are impactful, provoke thought and inspire action. They're published digitally, but always preferred in print. They come with beautiful photos that elevate the story through visual context.
